ARTICLE ON BETRAYAL - AN AFFAIR TO DISMEMBER
Loyalty in marriage is a dying quality. There's no doubt that betrayal in marriage is in epidemic proportions. It has become infectious and there are few signs of change.

Faithfulness in marriage is being treated as a bonus rather than a given. Infidelity is like a disease that has spread across generations and consumed our entire culture. Every day, a marriage becomes a divorce statistic. Every day, another child becomes an innocent victim engulfed by its fallout.

An affair may go on for months, even years.  Enormous energy is required to preserve secrecy, arrange discreet meetings and destroy incriminating evidence. Sometimes, partner are oblivious to the infidelity.  Other times partners choose not to confront it. Being suspicious, they believe, is less painful than confirming the truth.

The discovery of an affair hits relationships and families like a nuclear bomb. Lives are turned upside down in an instant. The pain and suffering that follows such confirmation is immeasurable. An overwhelming sense of betrayal follows. Both partners are shattered and struggle to find a flicker of light in what seems a hopeless situation.

Some partners react with shock. Many relationships do not survive. Knowing a partner has been intimate or has feelings for someone else is indigestible. They are slammed into reality, terrified by uncertainty and grief-stricken with loss.

For some partners, healing and forgiveness may take many months and years.  For others, it is impossible. They can never forgive and if they say they do, it is usually with a great deal of caution.

Most betrayed partners are devastated and find the discovery too excruciating to cope with. They feel alone, disillusioned, intense sadness, resentment, humiliation, rage and a host of other emotions all rolled into one. They don't know whether to stay or to leave, have an affair themselves, be a better partner, get a divorce, go on a diet or just give up!

The trauma leaves them feeling so totally confused, they don't know how or where to turn for help.  They wonder if they are going mad or if there are others who feel the same. They ask if there is someone who will understand or must they face their despair alone?

THE COMPLETE YOGA RETREAT EXPERIENCE - with Katina Pallaras

Unfold like the petal of a lotus as you peel away the tension and open your mind body and soul to the absolute yoga experience at Angsana Resort and Spa. Shaded under the swaying coconut trees along the shoreline of the Coral Sea, surrender yourself to the ebb and flow of the ocean as you stretch your mind and body in the ultimate Palm Cove setting.

The retreat is for life travelers yearning to rediscover their inner stillness and poise. It is for those seeking mind and body symmetry as well as physical extension and wellbeing. This peaceful practice moves soothingly in unison with the natural environment of the sea on one side and the mountains on the other creating true yogic balance. It expands the physical body without compromising the tranquility of the mind as well as restoring a powerful sense of rejuvenation, health and strength.

Wake to the sounds of the birds as you begin your morning Hatha practice with an energized beach walk to warm up, followed by preparatory limbering, postures, a variety of breathing techniques and relaxation. Join us again in the evening as we smooth out the muscles with gentle stretching before slipping into deep progressive yoga relaxation or meditation to complete this relaxed filled experience.

Our practice incorporates a sequence of postures designed to work on the major organs of the body, the respiratory and central nervous system. The aim is to balance and strengthen the body, targeting hormone-producing glands, which shape us physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.

The retreat provides an opportunity for participants to work comfortably at their own level. It is particularly suited for beginner to average students. Whilst a subtle body is the outcome of a disciplined practice, our attention is on creating a flexible attitude and calm mind.

If your fantasy is to gently unwind your body and mind under the cool breeze of the tropical coconut palms, this retreat is the place for you.

WHERE WILL I BE STAYING?

This especially selected collection of hotels – Ananda, Amanbagh, Chhatra Sagar and Mihir Garh – are brought together for the first time to create a magnificent yoga experience as you journey through north India with Katina Pallaras.

Ananda in the Himalayas and Amanbagh are two of India’s leading and most highly awarded hotels – Ananda for its spa and wellness programs, and Amanbagh for its juxtaposition of the world-renowned Aman luxury boutique style with the Moghul-era architecture typical of the region.

Chhatra Sagar and Mihir Garh on the other hand are two of India’s hidden gems. Chhatra Sagar offers luxury tented accommodation overlooking the most precious resource to be found in this semi-arid environment – water. Mihir Garh is a place of opulence amidst a rugged landscape, of private plunge pools, nooks and alcoves and beautifully designed interiors - an opulent, fairy-tale palace in the desert.

We have selected these hotels not only for their exceedingly high quality, but because each offers a stunningly beautiful and peaceful natural environment in which to experience Yoga and feel rejuvenated.

Ananda is chosen for the views over the Himalaya, Amanbagh for its cultivated Moghul-era gardens, Chhatra Sagar for the serene setting overlooking the water and lastly, Mihir Garh for the desert.

Luxury tents have always been an important part of Rajput lifestyle. Constant campaigns in far flung lands meant long stays in tents under inhospitable conditions. Tents were the only luxury available and soon these “homes away from home” evolved into mobile, mini-palaces. Chhatra Sagar captures the essence of this romance.
